Meaning of Home Contest winners honoured

At a ceremony on Thursday, March 15th at Elijah Smith Elementary School, two Grade 6 students from Elijah Smith Elementary School in Whitehorse, Yukon were honoured as runners up in the 11th annual Meaning of Home contest put on by Genworth Canada in support of Habitat for Humanity Canada.

Kiawna Leas and Samara Jacob were each awarded a $5,000 grant from Genworth Canada to provide to their local Habitat for Humanity branch for their poetry entries. Habitat for Humanity Yukon received a total of $10,000 and the students were also given a pizza party for their class.
